TEDxDetroit, the premier gathering of leading thinkers, designers, entertainers, entrepreneurs, scientists, artists and students from Detroit and across Michigan, announces the 2022 event will take place at Detroit’s historic Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, October 26. Tickets are on sale now.
TEDxDetroit features the best and brightest minds sharing their passion, insights, and ideas worth spreading. Positive ideas for the world from Detroit will be delivered through TED Talks videos and live speakers to spark deep discussion, connection and cross-pollination.
The first wave of tickets are on sale for the early-bird price of $75 through September 9.
In addition, the call for speakers is now open with a June 17 deadline to submit an application. Innovators, performers and storytellers with a Detroit connection are encouraged to apply at the TEDxDetroit website. A selection committee will review all applications and inform hopefuls of the committee’s decisions. The committee expects to begin announcing speakers and performers later this summer.
The speaker roster balances left brain and right brain – academics, artists, investors, entrepreneurs, and innovators. Previous TEDxDetroit conferences have featured a diverse and eclectic roster of speakers from NASA scientists and cancer researchers to filmmakers, musicians and business owners.
“TEDxDetroit is always a remarkable day that fills your head with fresh ideas, rekindles the fire in your belly, and adds a spring to your step,” said TEDxDetroit curator Charlie Wollborg. “It’s a celebration of the creativity, collaboration, and optimism happening right here in Michigan. It’s our mission to get attendees charged up for action!”
As in previous years, TEDxDetroit will also include TEDxLabs and TEDxMarketplace to showcase homegrown tech, art, and small businesses. It’s part business expo, part art gallery, and part science fair. You can demo new tech, sample local cuisine, buy from local artisans, and meet the speakers in between sessions during TEDxDetroit. Applications to exhibit at TEDxLabs and TEDxMarketplace are also now open at the TEDxDetroit website with a deadline of September 9.
