Do you have an idea worth spreading?
Before you say “yes”, know that TEDxDetroit is not your usual conference.
TEDxDetroit is part business conference, part tech expo, part art festival, part revival. It brings creators, catalysts, entrepreneurs, artists, technologists, designers, scientists, educators and geeks from across the Great Lakes State to share big ideas, get inspired and foster new connections.
We’re looking for WOW! This is not the time to roll out your same old talk. There’s no time or patience for selling from the stage or delivering a book report. We’re only accepting fresh ideas.
In the past, we’ve had a director from Pixar, the founder of Baby Einstein, Forbes woman of the year, the inventor of a blade-less wind turbine, two college students who teach app development to teens in juvenile detention, two billionaire CEOs and a 7-year old who started a lemonade stand that raised thousands for charity. This year’s mix will be similar.
Before you submit your talk for review, please read and take to heart the TED commandments. We also recommend watching a few TED talks to get a feel for the format. Derek Sivers, Shai Agassi, Elizabeth Gilbert, Rory Sutherland are all excellent examples.
Do you have what it takes?
Since this year’s TEDxDetroit is a shorter format, evening event, we will not be hosting the TEDxLabs expo this year. TEDxLabs will return at TEDxDetroit 2018.
Due to the limited seat capacity of The Wright museum and the evening showtime, we won’t be offering our educator and student scholarship program this year. We will continue (and expand) the program at TEDxDetroit 2018.
